Preferred growing conditions:
Adapts to a range of site conditions including occasional wet, heavy soils, slightly alkaline soils, and dry conditions. It is a hardy tree which tolerates air pollution and is disease resistant. Flourishes best in well drained soils in full sun.
Landscape Use:
Arguably the narrowest species of Pyrus, the Ornamental Capital Pear tree is an excellent choice for confined, restricted areas.
With its prolific white flowers produced in large clusters during the Spring combined with its stunning variation in foliage during the Autumn,
this tree is popular as an ornamental or for growing along driveways or as screening.
